Change? No Problem!
Some of the best life lessons that as a parent that I have learnt came from my children. A recent trip to the park indirectly motivated me as the boys played with each other.
It’s so easy to dwell on the things that don’t go according to plan, but those are the winds we can embrace when our children celebrate when their project came out really well after many tries and had to recreate the idea to make it work.
The fact is we should welcome changes in our lives. My children and I set out to have a tie and dye project/ The colours did not go according to plan, and it looked messier than the idea my older son had in mind.
As disappointed as he was, I tried to remind him it was ok and we could always try another time. I reinforced that it was his first time and that it would be alright.
Days later, the most incredible things happened. We opened the shirts to see how they turned out.
My son nervously opened up his shirt and exhaled, saying, “It actually came out pretty good, and the colour that went into the other made the design even better.” It was definitely a relief to hear this coming from him.
My son accepted that change was ok, and it didn’t ruin his design idea but instead worked out for the better.
So when things don’t go your way, embrace the change. As mothers, we need to embrace changes and celebrate the results of that change.
We are that change that our children need to see, receiving and embracing them when their plans don’t work out on the first try.
We are the voice that can help our children welcome change. We experience changes in one way or another especially being a mother, and know that it was a change that could bring joy to our lives.
While changes can be complex, they can be highly fulfilling.
Sometimes, motherhood can be overwhelming with many changes as our children grow, and we are still showing up each day ready to embrace changes.
That calls for a celebration of change.
